Father's Day
Mark Twain quote graphic art
This project was inspired by the Mark Twain quote and a picture I’d seen online of a baby in big shoes. I thought of my experiences with my own Dad and how the quote is so poignant.
With a little encouragement I got my niece to take some photos of her son Nolan for the illustration. I wanted something with a simple color with an outline.
Cindy helped me with the calligraphy / scripting for this piece. I asked her to size the lettering so that it fit the concept. Cindy added in the quote script as an overlay on the little boy illustration.
The finished piece is tip of the hat to the father-son relationship.
“When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant
I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much
the old man had learned in seven years.”
