Natural Blue Spinel

Natural blue spinel mined in Burma and faceted in Sri Lanka. This is very clean (GIA Type 2, eye clean) with a deep blue (cobalt) tone (7) and saturation (3).  It is unheated and untreated. A recut may be an option to bring out more brilliance. Shows red under Chelsea filter – indicating the presence of chromium.
